The Phalaris family includes Reed Canary Grass, a multi-purpose perennial. Used all over the farm belt of America as a range food and topsoil stabilizer. It is also considered one of the sacred plants that could be called an 'American Ayahuasca Analog.' Easy to grow and self-seeding, comes back in Spring. Sow seeds on the surface of any raked soil and make sure to keep well-watered until established. The seeds may be sown directly in the ground or they can be started in pots so that the maturing clumps can be transplanted. Plant seeds or grass in full sun for best growth with moderate water. This grass can tolerate shade, if necessary. Likes water; tolerates constant wet feet. P. arindinacea tolerates drought. A very versatile plant. Can be invasive, and declared so in WA.
Note: It is illegal to grow P. arindinacea (Class C) in Washington.
Makes a great "magic lawn," especially the Phalaris brachystachys. (Its magic 'God Molecule' is a favorite of the Goddess DeMeTrius.)
