20 Phalaris brachystachys seeds, Short Spike Canary Grass
Perennial. Phalaris brachystachys, AKA confused canary-grass or short spike canary grass, is an annual grass with growth habits and cultural needs similar to Phalaris aquatica. It is native to the Mediterranean region. It grows most actively during the spring and fall, while resting during the heat of midsummer and the short cool days of winter. It also must be protected from heavy freezes.
Rare version of this genus; likes water. Wet feet, pond or river edges best. Easy to grow marsh plant that likes water and sun, but tolerates most all conditions except drought, and looks like ordinary upright grass until it flowers and seeds. Dies down in Winter to re-sprout in Spring. Usually flowers in second year. A simple spiked reed with broad seed clusters that distinguish this species.
One of the plants considered as an American Ayahuasca Analog. This species has especially high alkaloid content. European seed stock.
