A small winter squash from France, inversely pear-shaped and orange, with a flavor like tree chestnuts. The name is derived from the French: potiron (pumpkin) and marron (chestnut) or chestnut pumpkin. Superb table quality in a small (3-4 pounds) manageable size. Long shelf life. Good for baking, roasting and soups.
