Homegrown belladonna berries from NightShade Farm in CA. Organically grown but not certified. Rare. Due to scarcity and demand, we are offering a limited amount for a limited time. Depending on size, may contain on average 100 seeds.
Perennial bush, with beautiful flowers and black berries. Dies back in winter after first frost. A Wicca standard. Rumored to be part of the famous Witch's "Flying Formula." Contains atropine. Likes cold climates with frost. Part sun, medium water.
Hardy to Zones 5 to 9.
Herbaceous perennial. Native to Central and Southern Europe. Purplish, bell-shaped, tubular flowers grow into large, black, shiny berries, the Devil's Berry. Medicinal herbal usage: mydriatic, muscle and nerve pain, motion sickness, IBS, nerve gas poisoning. Educate children not to eat this plant! Berries are tasty, but too many can be fatal.
Plant prefers partial to almost full shade, average fertility, moist soil. Sow in fall or early spring. Slow to germ. Some degree of cold conditioning is usually helpful. Sow in shade in early spring. Sprinkle seed on surface, barely cover, tamp securely, and keep evenly moist until germination, which can take weeks. Grow for some time in pots before transplanting to the landscape. Space plants three feet apart. Grows to three feet tall, flowers in Spring to Summer.
