Annual. An all white flower, but still the size of stramonium. Self-seeding annual native to North America, currently distributed worldwide. Favored by bumble bees.
Direct seed in warm, sunny location. Plant prefers full sun. Plant in warm soil, keep moist, and if germination does not occur within a week or two, allow the flat to dry out for two weeks then resume watering, which often spurs germination. Intermittent germinator. The seeds are wild, and can remain in the seed bank for many years and then germinate when conditions are just right (sunlight, dry and warm). Space plants three feet apart; 40 days to flowers.
Traditional usage: motion sickness, asthma, and rheumatic and glandular swelling.
All parts of the plant contain toxic atropine–leaf, root, flower and seed. Favored by witches and shaman.
