10 Indian Sandalwood Seeds, Santalum album, Tropical Tree, India
Santalum album, AKA Indian sandalwood or white sandalwood, is a small tropical tree native to India. The height of the evergreen tree is between 12 and 25 ft. They may live to 100 years of age or more.
The bark of the tree is considered sacred to many cultures and religions and is traditionally used as an incense. Sandalwood is heavy and fine-grained, and, unlike many other aromatic woods, it retains its fragrance for decades. Sandalwood oil is extracted from the wood for many uses. Sandalwood is often cited as one of the most expensive woods in the world. Both the wood and the oil produce a distinctive fragrance that has been highly valued for centuries. Overharvesting now threatens the species.
