48 days. Merlo Nero means ‘Black Bird’ in Italian, appropriate for this Italian heirloom. Thick, rounded, savoyed leaves, intensely green and robust, similar to Bloomsdale. A dark green autumn-winter spinach.

Begin planting in August for October harvest, and keep sowing through November for continuous harvests into January. Resume sowing in January through April for harvest into June. Give it a break during the summer heat. Likes colder weather. wgs
