25 Raw, Green Coffee beans, Coffea arabica, Guatemala
Raw coffee seeds for warm climates, high altitude (or attitude) preferred. Perennial small (5-8 ft.) tree at maturity. Some local Calif. nurseries sell the small trees and they show up in local coffee shops as well. Tropical tree. Seeds from Guatemala.
Hardy in Zones 8-11. White blooms give way to red-purple fruit, each containing a pair of seeds. Tropical plant. No frost. Part shade to full sun. Container friendly.
Green coffee beans are good for the immune system and are a good source of antioxidants.
NEW for 2018: a fresh supply of seeds direct from a local coffee bean importer! Sun-dried seeds are imported monthly from Guatemala.
I gave 10 seeds to a friend. She put them in a thermos and poured hot water in and sealed them up for five days. She made nutritious green coffee bean tea, and also had 10 seeds with little white roots starting, ready for garden soil. Not sure why this works, but she got 100% germination that way.
