A type of cactus or succulent known for its majestic beauty resembling the outstretched arms of the Biblical Joshua. It even has a National Park named after the species. Prefers higher altitudes and a desert climate. Called a tree due to its large height.
Joshua trees require full sun and gritty, gravelly or sandy soil.
Joshua trees naturally grow in the Mojave Desert of southwestern USA, in particular, California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona, at elevations from 2,000 to 6,000 feet. It withstands temperature swings from 15 to 105F.
Seeds need a chilling period of at least 3 months in the refrigerator.
