Acacia Confusa Tree Seeds, Tropical Formosa Koa, 10-500
These are alkaloid-free seeds for growing the Acacia confusa tree. Grows naturally all over the islands of Hawaii and Puerto Rico. This is a large, tropical tree that needs a frost-free environment. Unless you have a 50-foot tall greenhouse to grow in, you are restricted to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, San Diego, and southern Texas or Florida. I suppose you could put this in a large container under your 20-foot high skylight and grow it indoors, bonsai style. No frost.
Acacia Confusa is also known as Formosa Koa or Philippine Acacia. Confusa reportedly contains powerful antioxidants and is used to treat blood disorders in traditional herbalism where the plants naturally grow. Laboratory studies have also indicated a potential for the plant extract to fight hepatitis C.
Growing Directions: Lightly scarify seeds with sandpaper, then put into just heated water and let soak overnight. Those seeds that do not swell can be soaked for another 12-24 hours. Keep warm, at least 70F, 80F preferred. High humidity, full sun. Tropical conditions.
The inner bark of the mature tree is often used in shamanic formulas, but the small seeds are only good for growing trees.
