Romanesco reminds me of a Jurassic-era plant that would be perfect in a garden with dinosaur kale and a scary Stegosaurus statue. It has great spiraling designs and shades of light-green color whirling together to form some of the best tasting members of the broccoli family. Usually harvested in fall just in time for Oktoberfest and Thanksgiving.
Especially well adapted to cool northern areas. Tolerates light frost.
Make sure to give these plants lots of room. They can easily grow three feet in diameter with multiple heads. Remember head shape can be affected by heat. Broccoli does not care for heat, and will bolt prematurely in summer. SSC
