Sturdy, whip-like, woody, spiny shrub to 20 feet. Ocotillo is a plant indigenous to the Sonoran Desert and Chihuahua Desert in the Southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Ocotillo is not a true cactus. Favored by hummingbirds.
Use bottom heat and standard cactus seed horticulture.
Traditionally used for congestion in the pelvic zone, urinary infection, hemorrhoids and BPH, and lymphatic drainage. Flowers can be used to make a delicious tea.
