Plant prefers rich soils, but may produce more fruit in marginal soils. Sow in spring in pots and transplant. In temperate US, start early and cultivate like tomatoes. Harvest when the fruit drops. Excellent crop for the sub-tropics, where high yields provide refreshing fruit and excellent nutrition.
