10 Castor beans, Ricinus communis, Giant Red
One of the most beautiful and poisonous plants in the world. One seed can kill an adult male. The active poison is ricin. However, even my mother grew this in our yard for its beauty, warning me to never eat the seeds.
Red tropical leaves, turns into a ten-foot tree in subtropical climates, but is considered an annual in northern latitudes where frost will kill or damage it.
Castor oil is made from this plant. Extracts of the leaves have antimicrobial properties.
Seeds are lethal. Do NOT consume!
