"Hopi Blue" Sweet Corn seeds, High Protein, USDA Organic, CA, 4 sizes
85-105 days. Open-pollinated organic seed. USA.
Once a traditional staple corn of the Hopi people. Hopi Blue grows 4-7' tall with purple-blue 6-9" ears. Can be eaten as sweet corn if picked young.
Hopi Blue has 30% higher protein levels than other dent corns. Great fall decoration.
Source of blue corn flour. Makes amazing blue tortilla chips, tortillas, corn soup, and cornbread.
Precursors of this strain have been raised continuously for 800 years on the mesas of northern Arizona. Used by the Hopis to make ceremonial piki bread. Tall 9' plants produce large 8–10" ears with beautiful deep kernels easily ground into flour. Very drought-tolerant, with a long taproot. Will often make side shoots that produce more ears. Plant in blocks, not rows.
USDA Certified Organic. White Buffalo pack. This organic seed was grown for me in 2020 by 'Spade and Plow' Certified Organic Farm in San Martin, not too far from the WBTC office. I alone picked every ear and processed the corn myself. Good vibes corn.
