Mexican Dream Herb Seeds, Bitter Calea zacatechishi ternifolia, five seed pods
Five seed pods, from the "Leaf of God." Most vendors of Calea are not selling true bitter Calea Z. It is a similar herb that I still sell.
About 10 seeds per pod. Calea z. ternifolia is a species of flowering shrub in the aster family, Asteraceae. It is native to southern Mexico and Central America. Its common names include: Bitter-grass, Mexican Calea, Mexican Dream Herb and Calea Z. The plant is a very bitter herb traditionally used by native people of the Americas both for medicinal purposes and for shaman dreaming.
Tropical Mexico rainforest plant; warm humidity with no frost.
Sow seeds indoors on top of a moist soil. Keep moist and humid. A humidity tent may be required, as well as supplemental light and heat. Minimum temps of 70F to 80 F are preferred, along with high humidity. Can be potted and grown indoors in a sunny room or a warm, humid bathroom with light.
In Mexico the plant is used as an herbal remedy for dysentery and fever. The Zoque Popoluca people call the plant tam huñi (bitter gum) and use it to treat diarrhea and asthma, and the Mixe people know it as poop taam ujts (white bitter herb) and use it for stomachache and fever.
Dream Herb was traditionally used by the Chontal Natives of Oaxaca, Mexico as a shaman's herb. It would be prepared as a tea and drank just before going to bed while also smoking a hand-rolled cigarette made up of the Calea zacatechichi dried foliage. It can be placed next to a pillow or hung over a bed as well with milder effects.
Those who partake of the traditional Dream Herb Mixture are able to experience lucid dreaming at night; ie, the ability to actively control and remember dreams, or basically they become self-aware of being in the dream state in their Soul body and/or emotional body. Auditory "hallucinations" are also reported by some users, which prompted the Chontals--believing they were hearing the actual Spirit Voice of God--to refer to Calea Z as the "Leaf of God."
Deep South-Crazy Red State Botanical Legal Notice and a partial, personal Plant Rant:
This plant may be grown in Louisiana, under its current State law, but plant parts may not be consumed at all... or else... the Louisiana State Plant Police-Botanical Gestapo Unit and the "Normal Dreaming Only" Mental State Enforcement Units may come a-knocking and a talking with a drawl and socking it to Y'all ... and not in your wildest or wettest dreams. Is this a Nightmare in the Swamps?
You just better Be Normal! Don't Dare to Dream!; or else the long armadillo of Southern Law will come after Y'all. Don't even dream of using plants to talk to God. OMG! God forbid you might start talking directly to God via sacred herbs instead of going to church to hear about someone else talk about God, for money. Thou shalt not talk directly to God or else religion becomes a useless, overbearing burden...

"...God said, 'I give you every seed-bearing plant that is upon all the earth, and every tree that has seed-bearing fruit; they shall be yours for food.'") ...
