A deciduous shrub, native to the USA east of the Rockies, that grows three feet tall and is compact and rounded by nature. The dried leaves of New Jersey Tea still make a wintergreen-flavored tea that was popular with George Washington's troops during the American Revolutionary War.

Deep tree-like roots of this shrub make it drought-tolerant but difficult to move once established so choose your spot wisely. Light preference is full or part sun and medium-dry soil. Deer and rabbits will eat this shrub, especially when it is young, so protect new transplants in the early years. Seed germination can be aided by hot water treatment. Full or half sun, drought tolerant once established.

Used by Native Americans for respiratory infections, and currently for the lymph system. White flower clusters are favored by pollinators. Pack contains 100-250 seeds.PMN
