One seed pod from the "Leaf of God."

About 20-24 seeds per pod. Calea z. ternifolia is a species of flowering shrub in the aster family, Asteraceae. It is native to southern Mexico and Central America. Its common names include: Bitter-grass, Mexican Calea, Mexican Dream Herb and Calea Z. The plant is a very bitter herb traditionally used by native people of the Americas.

Tropical rainforest plant; warm humidity with no frost.

Sow seeds indoors on top of a moist soil. Keep moist and humid. A humidity tent may be required. Minimum temps of 70F to 80 F are preferred, along with high humidity. Can be potted and grown indoors in a sunny room or a warm, humid bathroom.

In Mexico the plant is used as an herbal remedy for dysentery and fever. The Zoque Popoluca people call the plant tam huñi (bitter gum) and use it to treat diarrhea and asthma, and the Mixe people know it as poop taam ujts (white bitter herb) and use it for stomachache and fever.

Dream Herb was traditionally used by the Chontal Natives of Oaxaca, Mexico as a shaman herb. It would be prepared as a tea and drank just before going to bed while also smoking a hand rolled cigarette made up of the Calea zacatechichi dried foliage. It can be placed next to a pillow or hung over a bed as well with milder effects.

Those who partake of the traditional Dream Herb mix are able to experience lucid dreaming at night; ie, the ability to actively control and remember dreams, or basically they become self-aware of being in the dream state. Auditory "hallucinations" are also reported by some users, which prompted the Chontals, believing they were hearing the actual Voice of God, to refer to Calea zacatechici as the "Leaf of God."

Deep South-Red State Legal Notice:

This plant may be grown in Louisiana, by state law, but cannot be consumed at all... or else the Louisiana State Plant Police-Botanical Gestapo Unit and the "Normal Dreaming Only" Mental State Enforcers may come a knocking, talking with a drawl, and socking it to Y'all... and not in your wildest or wettest dreams.

Be Normal! Don't Dare to Dream; or else the long armadillo of the law will come after Y'all. Don't even dream of using plants to talk to God. God forbid you might start talking directly to God via sacred herbs instead of going to church to hear about God.
