West Indies, Cuban tobacco. Traditional tobacco used for cigar smoking, with large leaves and pink flowers, growing up to five feet tall.
In the early spring, press the seed into the surface of good potting soil in a flat, and keep warm and moist until germination. Once the danger of frost has passed, space plants two feet apart in the garden. Give nitrogen-rich fertilizer, manure or compost. Full sun, moderate water.
Cure leaves in a shady room for two to four weeks.
