Royal Red Quinoa is revered by ancient Incas as “chisaya mama” or “mother grain.” Chenopodium quinoa.

This red variety is fluffier, nuttier and without the bitterness so common to lesser grades. Both the red and white variety have 170 calories per 1/4-cup serving of uncooked quinoa. They also have roughly the same amount of fat per serving, with two grams for red quinoa and 2.5 grams for white quinoa. The carbohydrate content is also similar, with 32 grams per serving for red quinoa. While both types of quinoa are a good source of vitamins B-9, B-1 and B-6 as well as iron, magnesium, phosphorus and zinc, red quinoa is a better source of riboflavin, with 15 percent of the daily value per serving.

USDA Certified Organic. Grown in Bolivia at about a mile high. Hundreds of seeds per pack.
