This midseason-maturing corn is packed with flavor The ears of ‘Hjerleid Blue’ white sweet corn turn a striking dark blue at maturity, but are most flavorful (and have more tender kernels) when the first blue kernels appear. This variety dates to at least the early 1940s in Blair, Wisconsin, where it was grown by Ludwig Hjerleid. Likely a Native American variety. Mature seeds are dark blue.
